Gothic 1 Remake Lockpicking Guide

How the Gothic 1 Remake plate-and-pin lock puzzle differs from classic Gothic left-right lock sequences.

Gothic 1 Remake lockpicking uses a plate-and-pin puzzle model. Instead of memorizing a left-right sequence, the player studies rows of plates and tries to align pins into the same column.

The hard part is linkage. A plate may move independently, move together with another plate, or move in the opposite direction. A solver needs to model those relationships before it can suggest a safe move sequence.

This site focuses on the Remake-style plate puzzle. Classic Gothic 1 and Gothic 2 lockpicking sequence tools are not interchangeable with this model.

Verified chest presets should only be trusted when the lock face and solution are checked against actual gameplay. Until then, use practice examples for learning the solver controls.
